Overview of health
challenges
Tanzania is challenged by high maternal mortality, child mortality, HIV/AIDS, pneumonia, and malaria. Its population also has one of the lowest rates of access to health personnel in the world.
Tanzania’s risk of cross-border disease outbreak and epidemics is also high as it borders span eight countries, including the African Great Lakes region. The Ministry of Health, WHO and the CDC are actively serving in the country to address these issues, the objectives of which Rotary Family Health Days supports, as the needs continue to grow.
History
Rotary Family Health Days will be taking place for the first time ever in Tanzania in 2023. With a new partnership opportunity with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the plan is underway to launch the health days in early 2023.
