The Rotary Family Health Days (RFHDs) return to South Africa on 30–31 October 2025, with a national launch event at Elukwatini Stadium, Mpumalanga. Led by the Rotary Action Group for Family Health & AIDS Prevention (RFHA), in partnership with the National Department of Health, the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), Gift of the Givers, Bonitas, and Rotary District 9400, this year’s programme aims to bring free, life-saving healthcare services to the local communities.
Funded through a Rotary International and Rotary Foundation Global Grant, facilitated by the Rotary Club of Eagle Canyon (District 9400), the programme will mobilise Rotarians and partners across 20 sites in four provinces, expanding access to primary healthcare, HIV prevention and testing, maternal and child health services, and referrals to ongoing care.
The launch event will be attended by national and provincial leaders, including Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Honourable Minister of Health, who will unveil the World AIDS Day 2025 theme, underscoring South Africa’s continued leadership in the global HIV and AIDS response.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Sue Paget, CEO of RFHA Inc, highlighted the power of partnerships and volunteers in advancing equitable healthcare, “Rotarians are at the heart of Rotary Family Health Days. Their dedication ensures thousands receive the healthcare they deserve. As funding and resources tighten globally, initiatives like RFHDs show what’s possible when communities, government, and civil society unite for impact.”
Under the theme “Close the Gap”, RFHD 2025 seeks to strengthen South Africa’s health systems by addressing inequalities in access and outcomes, particularly for women, children, and vulnerable populations. The campaign continues to align closely with the country’s national HIV and AIDS response and its efforts to achieve universal health coverage.
Since its inception in 2011, RFHA has delivered more than 14.5 million health services to 3.5 million people across 16 countries in Africa and India. This sustained impact reflects RFHA’s ongoing commitment to community-centred, partnership-driven healthcare delivery.
