Overview of health
challenges
As per a recent USAID report, the top three health threats facing the people of Zimbabwe are HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria. These diseases contribute significantly to maternal and childhood illness and deaths. While a rise in costs of living have affected the health system, the COVID-19 pandemic has piled more pressure on the country’s healthcare system.
The Ministry of Health has developed a National Strategic Plan to address the issues, the objectives of which Rotary Family Health Days supports as the needs continue to grow.

History
Rotary family Health Days will be taking place for the first time ever in Zimbabwe. With a new partnership opportunity with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the plan is underway to launch the health days in early 2023.
